While an attorney by education, I have always considered myself a baker/chef by heritage. Growing up in an American-Armenian family meant that food was an important part of my life. Everything was always made from scratch with many interesting ingredients and flavor combinations. While preparing the recipes was always more fun than work, the best part was gathering together with family and friends to enjoy our efforts! Whether it was my grandmother’s Oatmeal Date Bars or Armenian Choreg (sweet bread), my mother’s Christmas thumbprint cookies with gumdrops or Lemon Bundt Cake or my great-grandmother’s Armenian Pilaf, it all brings back amazing memories that I have continued to share with my family.
K Bakery (originally K Cakes) was just a dream in 2006 when a friend and I decided to experiment with a 1950’s recipe for Rum Cake. After gifting a few Rum Cakes to friends and family, I felt the same excitement and joy that I had remembered from my childhood. With the encouragement of family, my mom at my side, a lot of hard work and little bit of “why not”, K Bakery opened its doors in the fall of 2011, and we have been growing ever since.
K Bakery was founded on the principles of fresh and interesting food, made daily with seasonal ingredients that are free of preservatives. We are proud to announce that while continuing to grow our Bakery, we now offer an expanded menu with daily Soups, Salads, Chicken Pot Pies and Quiche in addition to weekly specials and a “to-go” Dinner Menu for the busy family.
We are a seasonal bakery and bistro serving a full culinary menu as well as a full service bakery menu. We use Compostable and Recyclable Packaging, Free Range Jidori Chicken as well as Organic Dairy. We are Preservative-Free.
